Private investigations for individuals
A difficult separation, a commercial promise that no longer holds, a doubt about the accuracy of what you have been told: some situations call for verified facts rather than impressions. RAINBOWNET conducts private investigations in Geneva and across Switzerland for private clients, within a strictly legal framework and with the discretion that personal matters require.
What a private investigation can establish
Individuals rarely consult us out of curiosity. Most often the aim is to verify a specific fact before a decision: a separation, a dispute, a financial commitment, a professional relationship. Our task is to turn a concern into a documented, dated and verifiable finding you can rely on, including before an authority or a court.
We handle factual verification, lawful tracing of a person, asset information obtained through lawful channels, documentary support in a dispute, and matrimonial enquiries kept strictly within the limits of applicable law. Every request is assessed against its purpose and against the legal basis available before any engagement is confirmed, and we set out our reasoning on that point.
How a mandate unfolds
The first meeting establishes your situation and confirms that the purpose of the request is lawful. We tell you what can be established, what cannot, and which methods we do not use. Where a mandate cannot be conducted lawfully, we say so at that stage rather than later.
A written mandate then fixes the scope, timetable and fee. Research combines open sources, documentary checks and fieldwork conducted in public space. You are kept informed as the work progresses; the report is delivered at the end, or in stages where the file requires it.
What you receive
You receive a structured written report that clearly separates established facts, points still to be confirmed and questions that remain open. Each finding is dated and tied to its source: a document, a register, an observation, or an interview conducted on a lawful and documented basis.
Supporting material is listed in annexes, in a format your lawyer can use directly. We remain available to take you through the file, answer questions and confirm specific points in writing after delivery. No conclusion is presented as certain when it is not, and open questions are left visible rather than resolved by assumption.
Discretion and legal boundaries
Discretion is not a selling point; it is a condition of the work. Exchanges stay limited to the people directly concerned by the file, documents are held on a restricted basis, and nothing is disclosed to a third party, whoever it may be, without your written consent.
We do not access banking or telephone records, we do not enter private premises, and no location device is installed without a legal basis. These limits are set out at the outset, before the mandate is even signed, and restated in the report: they protect your file as much as the people concerned.
Process
How we handle this type of mandate
First meeting
A confidential conversation, by telephone or at our office, to set out the facts and clarify what you are seeking to establish. We assess whether the request is lawful and tell you from the outset what is feasible.
Mandate and scope
The purpose of the mandate, the checks retained, the timetable and the fee are set out in writing. That document is the framework: nothing is carried out beyond what it covers.
Research and checks
Open sources, accessible registers, documents you hold, observation in public space: every element is cross-checked. Unverifiable information is discarded, and discrepancies are recorded rather than smoothed over.
Report and debrief
You receive a dated, prioritised and sourced report with its annexes. A debrief session covers the sensitive points and prepares the next steps with your lawyer.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
A question specific to your situation? The confidential form lets us answer precisely.
Is a private investigation lawful in Switzerland?
Yes, when it concerns facts and relies on lawful means: open sources, public registers, documents you hold, observation in public space. It does not permit access to banking or telephone records, entry into a private home, or the installation of a listening or location device.
How long does a mandate take?
It depends on the subject. A straightforward documentary check takes a few days; tracing a person or an asset enquiry usually takes two to six weeks. The timetable is set in the mandate and adjusted if further checks prove necessary.
Will my information remain confidential?
Yes. The file is accessible only to those assigned to the mandate. Nothing is passed to a third party, including your lawyer, without your written consent. Documents are held on a restricted basis and returned or destroyed at your request, subject to statutory retention duties.
Can the report be used in court?
The report is designed to sit within a case file: dated findings, identified sources, organised annexes. Its procedural use is a matter for your lawyer, who will assess its relevance and the conditions for producing it. We can confirm specific points in writing if needed.
What if my request cannot be carried out?
We tell you before any engagement. If the purpose is unlawful, if it requires a method we do not use, or if the facts cannot be established through lawful means, we decline the mandate and, where useful, indicate the appropriate route.
